Craig Barnes - Principal Psychologist

Craig has experience in diagnosing and treating mood, anxiety and trauma-related disorders in children, adolescents and adults from many backgrounds and walks of life.

Additionally, Craig has special interests in the assessment and diagnosis of neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder in children and adolescents, and also male mental health – helping boys, teens, and men be their best.

Craig has previously worked in IT, pastoral ministry and social work. He has extensive experience in counselling and supporting individuals and couples through life’s many challenges. He chose to pursue his passion for helping people by studying and practising psychology. He has worked with many clients, from children to older adults, to alleviate suffering and improve their quality of life. Of course, the credit for any gains belongs to the motivation and effort of the client, but he finds great satisfaction in playing an important role in initiating, assisting and guiding that process using his skills, training and life experience.

Craig is trained and experienced with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) treatment approaches. He also integrates aspects of Schema Therapy and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) when required.

Craig enjoys photography and is interested in new technology, but makes an effort to disconnect occasionally to attend yoga, go bushwalking, read a real book, or hand-make a loaf of bread.
